If so, we would love for you to join our team! We are Ohev Sholom - The National Synagogue, a 300+ member Modern Orthodox synagogue located in Washington DC. We are a family-centric shul looking to create the best possible synagogue experience for our children.

We are seeking an individual to oversee programming for youth and teens in a fun and educational manner. We currently have weekly Shabbat youth groups, teen minyan, monthly Torah learning and chesed programs, holiday programs, and more, all led by our committed parent volunteers. The Youth Director will oversee and coordinate existing youth and teen programs and adapt, expand, and innovate programs to better engage our youth and teens in synagogue life. The director will work closely with clergy, shul professional staff and parent and other volunteers, and will be comfortable both coordinating youth and teen programs as well as directly leading some programs.

Roles & Responsibilities
The specific duties of this position include the following:

• Have fun - fun is contagious
• Work collaboratively with clergy and synagogue leadership to build and implement dynamic youth and teen programming including educational, religious, and social
• Connect with families to make sure programming is meeting their needs
• Liaise with other organizations on possible joint programs
• Manage and mentor teen volunteers
• Design and support the implementation of special programming related to Jewish holidays and themes
• Plan innovative programming for middle-school and high-school cohorts

Hours and Work Locations
This position is full-time exempt, working closely with the clergy and reporting to the Executive Director. Attendance on three Shabbatot a month will be required as well as on certain holidays and weekend/evening programming. There is flexibility on working/planning programs remotely. Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required (Masters Preferred)
• Experience working in Jewish education including a camp, school, or synagogue setting
• Experience managing a team of paid and volunteer staff
• Experience creating and delivering youth programming
• Charismatic, positive, and creative demeanor
